The Thomas/Padgett Home

back before The front of the cabin, before

I decided to try to keep the building standing while removing the lower rows of decayed logs. At points around the house we cast pipe into sections of footing. Over these slide sections of larger pipe onto which we have welded angle iron. The angle iron is inserted into the chink joint below the first good log. We will jack up the building enough to level it and then bolt the sliding angle sleeve to the cast in pipe.

With the cabin now held securely in place we can remove the bad logs and jack new ones into place. Then we will reinstall the fieldstone foundation on top of the new concrete footings.
